Burial Date June 2, 2019

Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Johnny Conrad officiating.  Interment will be in the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Caress.

Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home.

Marion Jean Butcher, 88, of Sutton, passed away on May 26, 2019 at Clay Health Care Center, Big Otter.

She was born July 25, 1930 in Charleston, a daughter of the late Ray Young and Mable Jarrett.

Marion worked at home and also worked at Western Electric as an office manager and in the factory.  She loved cats and often rescued them if someone happened to drop them off near her home.  Marion listened to old hillbilly bluegrass music.  She loved listening to the likes of Johnny Cash and Elvis.  She also had a creative side to her as she enjoyed writing poetry and songs.  Seven songs of hers were published including the song “Beautiful West Virginia”.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Delmer H. Butcher; stepfather, Randolph Jarrett; grandson, Robert Pawley; great great grandson, baby Keith, son of Jessica Naulamn; nephew, Leon Lake and three sisters.

Marion is survived by her daughter Meloney Williams and fiancé, Arthur Solder of Sutton; granddaughter, Gail Knight; great granddaughters, Jessica Naulamn and Sarah Knight; great great grandsons, Scott Knight and Cameron Knight, all of Linthicum, Maryland; niece, Debbie Lake; great nephew, David Lake, great niece, Gloria Hannah and husband, Jeff all of WV.

Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Johnny Conrad officiating.  Interment will be in the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Caress.
