Graveside service will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway with Reverend Johnny Conrad officiating.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 P.M. Saturday, February 16 and from 11 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. Sunday, February 17 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

John J. Faber, 80, of Gassaway, WV passed away February 12, 2019.  He was born to the late John A. Faber and Elsie Hamilton Faber on February 20, 1938 in Alquina, IN.

John enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served on the USS Elokonina and USS Thor from 1955 until 1959.  He then was employed by Kenton Meadows in Orlando, FL and later transferred to WV where he met the love of his life, Bobbie.

In 1965 he re-enlisted in the Naval Construction Battalions known as the Seabees where he served in Vietnam until he was injured and transferred to the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD.

John was an over the road truck driver for the Borg-Warner Corporation from 1969 until 1987.  During this time John drove over one million accident free miles and won numerous competitions in the WV Trucking Association Rodeos.  He also drove for A & R Tank Lines, Insight and Maxum Mobile MRI units and ended his career driving for Wal-Mart.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bobbie; children, Teresa, Jim, J.Todd (Angie), and Tammy (Ray); grandchildren, Nicholas, Mathew, Constance (Jake), Morgan (Kevin), Evan, Jonathan, and William; siblings, Floyd Faber (Alene), and Betty Leach (Donald).

He was a Christian, baptized in the Elk River at Frametown and he was faithful to the Frametown United Methodist Church.  He loved hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR, and spending winters in Florida.  John was a member of the Gassaway Masonic Lodge #133 and the Scottish Rite.
