Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Gassaway United Methodist Church with Rev. James Malick officiating. Interment will be in the Morrison Cemetery, Sutton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

Glendon Kent Jones, 74 of Gassaway, WV died suddenly on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Rebecca Dodrill Jones; Goddaughter, Ashley Davis; brothers, Gary Jones of Upper Marlboro, MD, Ron Jones (Daisy) of Ft. Myers, FL; foster sisters, Regina Stephenson of Clay, WV and Lois Cottle of Plant City, FL and several nieces and nephews.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland the son of the late Jeniver Jones and Maxine Hickman Jones, he lived most of his life in Braxton County, WV. After graduating from Sutton High School in 1961, Glendon attended Glenville State College and West Virginia University with an AB degree in Math and Science. After graduation, he taught school for three years before entering the car business. At the time of his retirement he was owner and General Manager of Jones Chevy-Olds-Buick in Flatwoods, WV with 32 years of service.

Glendon was a member of the Gassaway United Methodist church. He had a passion for serving his community and was an active member of the Braxton County Rotary Club. He served on the Braxton county Health Department Board and the Braxton County Community Health Center and was a former member of the WV Auto Dealers Association.

Glendon loved following the WVU Mountaineers. He had a genuine love of photography and recently traveled with friends to photograph 88 churches in Braxton County. Glendon had a love for life as he knew it and portrayed it with a smile and a story to those he encountered on any given day.
