Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Arlis Rexroad officiating.  Interment will be in the Nicholas Cemetery, Lower Sleith.

Friends may call two hours prior at the funeral home.

Dale Jarvis, 71, of Elmira, passed away at home on August 9, 2019.

He was born April 17, 1948 in Gassaway to the late William Harrison Jarvis and Elsie Ella Eagle Jarvis.

Dale was a farmer.  He enjoyed deer hunting.  He also spent time with his grandson road hunting or ground hog hunting.  Dale was an excellent cook and he would always but a hot pepper in anything he cooked.  He built his house with a chainsaw and a big hammer.  Dale was a gentle giant.  He had a personal relationship with Jesus.  He was also in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 and worked most of his service time as a cook feeding the troops.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior Jarvis, James Jarvis, Ed Jarvis, Tom Jarvis and Joe Jarvis; grandson, CJ Rose; and stepson, Jerry Morris.

Dale is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon Nichols Jarvis; sons, Billy Jarvis of Frametown, Danny Jarvis and wife, Jennifer of Elmira; daughter Dayle Rose of Strange Creek; stepsons, Ronnie Morris and wife, “Bubba” of Lower Sleith, and James Morris of Elmira; grandchildren, Nisa Rose, Josie Morris and fiancé, Wyatt Barrett, Jayla Jarvis, and Ethan Jarvis; great grandson, CJ Allen Rose; brothers, John Jarvis of Strange Creek and Michael Jarvis of Hallsburg; sister Derrah Woodrum of Strange Creek.
